West Park High School Chooses Musco LED Sports Lighting for Advanced Control at Cutting-Edge Campus

The Challenge

The newest high school in a district that values innovation, West Park High School (WPHS) in Roseville, California, was designed for student success. Cutting-edge architecture combines with collaborative pedagogy to create an environment where students feel included and empowered. For WPHS’  football/soccer field, project leaders wanted an LED sports lighting solution that would meet the same high standard while staying in budget. Besides promising a strong return on investment, the new system would need to prevent spill light and glare from disturbing neighbors surrounding the school.

The Solution

Project leaders turned to Musco for the advanced performance and controls of its TLC for LED® technology. The system achieves the proper light levels for safety and playability on the field while reducing energy use and minimizing spill light and glare around the facility. BallTracker® fixtures light the underside of the aerial ball for greater contrast against the night sky, allowing players and fans to better follow its path. Facility staff can operate and schedule the lights remotely via smartphone with the Control-Link® service, and the Show-Light® special effects package allows spectacular scenes and effects to be displayed. Musco’s long-term warranty covers every part and all labor on the system for 25 years.

Whether it was for Westpark High School or the many other sports fields we have designed, we always start with a call to Musco. In our opinion, there are very few (if any) other manufacturers out there who provide the quality of product and service when it comes to sports field lighting. Musco did a great job of providing photometric calculations, details, structural drawings, structural calculations, etc., that were approved by the state with little to no comment.
