UBS Arena Sets a New Standard for Hockey and Entertainment with Custom TLC for LED® System

The Challenge

In 2017, New York Arena Partners was formed when Oak View Group, Sterling Project Development, and the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) joined forces to build a new, state-of-the-art home for hockey and entertainment in New York’s Belmont Park. The new UBS Arena would host Islanders games and 150 concerts a year, as well as NBA and WNBA games in the future. To achieve these goals, New York Arena Partners needed an LED lighting system that would meet NHL light levels, change color temperatures for different sports, and allow staff to create cutting-edge lighting effects.

The Solution

New York Arena Partners teamed with Musco, with whom Oak View Group was lighting Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Project leaders trusted Musco’s TLC for LED® technology and the after-sales service guaranteed by the manufacturer’s parts and labor warranty, which eliminates maintenance costs for 15 years. New York Arena Partners installed a highly customized, temperature-adjustable TLC for LED® system that was factory-aimed to the arena’s specifications and meets new NHL lighting standards for games and TV broadcasts. The arena’s entire bowl was outfitted with color-changing RGBW fixtures that staff can control through the Show-Light® Connect special effects interface to create spectacular light shows for the ultimate entertainment experience.
