Sanford Sports Complex Transforms On- and Off-the-Field Experiences with Musco TLC for LED® Lighting
The Challenge
Hosting more than 2.4 million visitors each year, Sanford Sports Complex is a regional destination for all things athletic, with an expansive set of sports facilities used for training, competition, and recreation.
Among other amenities, the complex includes:
- The Diamonds, a set of five baseball diamonds, which serve as home for Sioux Falls Little League® baseball, and five softball diamonds; and
- The Crossing, a block of eight multipurpose fields for soccer, lacrosse, football, and a variety of other sports.
As part of a significant expansion designed to elevate the sports experience for athletes and fans, the team at Sanford Sports sought a partner to provide state-of-the-art lighting and broadcasting equipment at The Diamonds and The Crossing.
The Solution
After evaluating potential partners, Sanford Sports chose to work with Musco and have its Light-Structure System™ with Total Light Control—TLC for LED™ technology installed on their newly constructed diamonds and fields. The system provides clean, even lighting for practices, training camps, games, and tournaments. Patented visoring technology minimizes glare and spill, protecting neighbors (including a nearby regional airport) and the night sky. Each of the facilities at The Diamond and The Crossing is equipped with MuscoVision™ automated sports broadcasting technology, making it possible for off-site fans and family members to watch sporting events in real-time via phone, tablet, computer, or SmartTV. The entire system is easy to control, with facility operators having the ability to operate the lights instantly with the touch of a phone, and is backed by Musco’s 24/7 service and support.
