New York Red Bulls Set New Standard for Fan Experience and Playability with Musco TLC for LED® System
The Challenge
The New York Red Bulls continually find new ways to elevate the game of soccer. From world-class facilities that set the highest standard for playability and fan experience, to partnerships that provide athletic opportunities for the next generation, the Major League Soccer (MLS) club is dedicated to modeling the very best the sport has to offer. When the lighting system at its home field of Red Bull Arena began to reach the end of its useful life, the club was inspired by the latest advances in sports lighting technology to pursue a cutting-edge system that would enhance on-field visibility, advance their energy sustainability goals, heighten the fan experience, and meet MLS lighting standards for years to come.
The Solution
The Red Bulls evaluated several lighting providers and ultimately chose Musco. The club has worked with Musco as provider of the original high intensity discharge (HID) lighting system at Red Bull Arena and the lighting at their training facility in Whippany, N.J., as well as 11 Mini-Pitch System™ modular sports solutions that provide safer athletic spaces for youth in the New York tri-state area.
Custom designed around Musco’s TLC for LED® technology, the arena’s new lighting system provides higher on-field light levels and reduces energy consumption by more than 20%. Color-changing fixtures and Show-Light® Pro technology allow the Red Bulls to wash the stadium in different colors and synchronize light shows to music, heightening the fan experience during goal celebrations, player introductions, wins, and other big moments. With this upgrade in place, they’re prepared to showcase the sport at the highest levels of competition, including as a practice field for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
