Knoxville Raceway Brings Color-Changing Lighting and DMX Controls to “Sprint Car Capital of the World” with LED Retrofit
The Challenge
Known as the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” Knoxville Raceway welcomes over 20,000 fans to Iowa each year for the Knoxville Nationals. When dirt tracks began upgrading to LED lighting, facility leaders were eager to bring the power of this new technology to their sport’s most prestigious track. Specifically, project leaders were excited to enhance the fan experience with color-changing lights and DMX-controlled light shows, but any LED retrofit would also need to be a complete and long-term solution.
The Solution
Having enjoyed the performance of Musco’s HID lighting systems for 25 years, Knoxville was eager to experience the enhanced capabilities of the company’s TLC for LED® technology with a turnkey retrofit. The new system improves visibility on the track for drivers and fans, and color-changing RGBA lights linked with race controls can illuminate light poles to match race flags or for special events. Spectacular light shows set to music can be programmed with DMX using the Show-Light Pro Venue entertainment package, and Musco’s comprehensive warranty covers every part and all labor for 10 years.
