Cedar Stone Park Accomplishes Lighting Goals at Youth Baseball Fields, Implementing Safer Field of Play
The Challenge
When the City of Smyrna, Tennessee, first bought the property for Cedar Stone Park, it wanted to give back to its growing community by providing new youth baseball fields for the first time in 20 years. For the new fields, the city was determined to provide the best possible visibility and needed a high-quality light system capable of preventing glare from affecting nearby homes and providing uniform light that would make evenings on the field as safe as possible.
The Solution
With Musco already lighting one of Smyrna’s existing ball fields, the city was well aware of Musco’s ability to streamline the installation process and provide the desired light control capabilities. They opted for a new Total Light Control—TLC for LED™ system. The system includes patented visoring technology that cuts off glare and light spill so neighbors remain unaffected when the lights come on, while achieving an average of 30 footcandles in the outfield and 50 on the infield—providing clear, uniform light that creates a safer field of play.
The quality of light that we’re getting, at the price of usage we’re getting it as has been phenomenal. If I was giving advice to fellow parks directors or maintenance staff, in regard to lighting, I would be looking at the quality of light, ease of installation, warranty, and support you get from the vendor. With Musco, I’ve seen it all. All of those things are very strong. They’re here when you need them.
