Biloxi High School Sets New Standard for Gulf Coast Schools with Musco LED Sports Lighting
The Challenge
Located along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, Biloxi High School’s (BHS) new, state-of-the-art campus has already weathered many hurricanes. Under these conditions, the school’s metal halide sports lighting required constant maintenance, and when it was no longer able to produce the necessary light levels, school officials began searching for a replacement system. The ideal LED sports lighting solution would not only improve light levels and decrease maintenance, but also offer entertainment features like color-changing lights that would elevate Indians game presentations beyond those of rival teams. BHS leaders were also eager to find a more reliable solution for livestreaming games from their facilities.
The Solution
After researching various LED sports lighting manufacturers, project leaders determined only Musco could provide the desired features and trusted the company’s expertise to light BHS’ football, baseball, and softball fields, as well as its gym. TLC for LED® fixtures achieve the light levels needed for safety and playability while minimizing spill light and glare, and BallTracker® fixtures light the underside of aerial balls for greater visibility against the dark sky. RGB fixtures wash the facilities in custom colors and can be choreographed to music with the Show-Light® special effects package for spectacular light shows. BHS also installed Mississippi’s first MuscoVision® automated sports broadcasting systems at each facility, allowing fans to easily watch games from anywhere via computer or mobile device. Every part and all labor on each system is covered by Musco’s long-term warranty.
We really want to provide the best for our student athletes, so we reached out to Musco Lighting. For generations to come, people are going to get to see the excitement, people are going to be able to watch it on MuscoVision at home, people are going to be able to come to the games and see the light shows and enjoy those moments.
