Arizona State University Completes Multi-Field LED Sports Lighting Project with Musco Technology
The Challenge
ASU determined new lighting was needed to provide a better practice environment for its soccer program, as well as a safer and enhanced experience for students on its recreational fields. They were looking for an advanced LED lighting solution that would deliver the necessary light levels without disrupting the areas surrounding the fields with spill light or glare, while also staying within budget.
The Solution
Musco demonstrated its TLC for LED® system’s ability to provide clear, uniform lighting to a field of play without negatively impacting neighboring areas with spill light—which encouraged ASU leaders to install the technology at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium and on each new field. The system accomplishes adequate light levels on each surface, including the entire intramural field which required taller poles and new 1500-watt fixtures to be strategically located to ensure uniform illumination across both fields when divided. With the Control-Link® controls service, facility staff gain instant remote operation via smartphone, while Musco’s parts and labor warranty eliminates maintenance costs through the year 2045.
