Bethlehem Stadium Becomes Caribbean’s Premier Sports Venue with the Help of TLC for LED® Technology

The Challenge

The U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) national soccer team, The Dashing Eagles, played for decades without a permanent stadium to call home. The association had utilized several facilities, including a junior high school’s cricket field, before FIFA headed the project to build the team’s brand-new venue, Bethlehem Stadium. They wanted to ensure the facility would be top-tier with a lighting system that would deliver superior visibility, minimize spill and glare, and include advanced control features to simplify scheduling and operating the lights for the many teams and athletes using the facility.

The Solution

After researching several manufacturers and studying the various elements of lighting, the association determined Musco would best fulfill its goals. Musco’s Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system provides superior visibility with its factory-aiming capability and custom optics working to achieve optimal light-levels while the patented visoring technology cuts off wasted spill light and redirects it back onto the field. The system also includes the Control-Link® controls and monitoring service which allows multiple users the ability to operate the lights via an app on their smart phone.

Everyone, especially the players and neighbors, love the facility and love the lights. Soccer is on the up in the Virgin Islands, and Musco played a good part in it. Musco has been around for a number of years and, even as a regular player in the sport, I would see Musco’s logo on lights. From doing my research, I realized that there is a reason they have been around this long.
