Lighted Short Course Invites Public Into ‘The Swing’ of Things at Luxurious Omni PGA Frisco Resort

The Challenge

Sharing its mile-long campus with the home of the PGA of America, the Omni PGA Frisco Resort is one of the nation’s largest resort hotels, featuring 500 rooms and suites, 10 ranch houses, 13 dining options, and a pair of 18-hole championship golf courses. When the sun goes down, the fun continues at three lighted golf amenities: The Swing, a 10-hole, par-3 course that features music and lights; The Dance Floor, a two-acre lighted putting green accentuated by a Jumbotron digital screen; and six live hitting bays at the Ice House lounge. These features were designed with public accessibility and playability in mind—part of a years-long commitment by the PGA to maximize accessibility of the sport and the PGA organization.

The Solution

For the lighted golf amenities, facilities planners turned to Musco. The company’s Total Light Control—TLC for LED® technology provides uniform lighting with minimized glare throughout the playing areas without spilling unwanted light to the resort’s other attractions. BallTracker® technology, mounted low on poles, cast light upward to help players track the flight of the ball in the night sky. To help the system blend into the environment, Musco provided custom green paint for poles, luminaires, and other system components. The system maximizes safety and playability for golfers of all abilities, including students in the nearby Frisco Independent School District, which has an arrangement with the PGA to utilize many of its amenities at PGA Frisco.
