Aurora Public Schools Partners with Musco to Complete Significant Lighting Upgrade at Beloved Community Stadium
The Challenge
APS Stadium has been home to Aurora Public Schools (APS) since 1960 and has served as a central part of athletics, not only in Aurora, but throughout all Class 4A sports in Colorado. With a reputation of hosting major athletic events, the district planned significant stadium upgrades, including the addition of a new lighting system. The district’s top priorities for the new lighting were to prevent glare and light spill, reduce energy use and costs, and provide an exciting new experience for players and fans with cutting-edge special effects.
The Solution
APS had worked with Musco on lighting projects in the past and knew of the company’s dedication to providing the best possible solutions and services. As a result, the school district turned to Musco for its Total Light Control – TLC for LED™ system and Show-Light® entertainment package. Musco’s factory-aiming capability and patented visoring technology cuts off wasted spill light and directs it back onto the playing surface, eliminating light pollution and improving overall visibility. The Control-Link® system enables operation via smartphone and allows staff to dim the lights to reduce energy output. Additionally, the Show-Light entertainment package includes cutting-edge light shows and special effects with color-changing RGBW accent lights to create an exciting new experience at APS stadium.
The lights are amazing. We have the most entertaining little stadium in the state.
